Discipleship Groups

Discipleship Groups usually consist of three people who meet together at regular intervals

What are Discipleship Groups for?
Discipleship Groups are for the mutual support and encouragement of the members on their spiritual journey of faith.

What happens in a Discipleship Group?
There is a recommended format to guide the sessions, which includes prayers and questions each member can answer if they wish. Items for consideration include awareness of God in our lives, study activities and our responses to His guidance.

How often do they meet?
It is recommended to meet fairly regularly at first in order to become familiar with the process. It is then up to the group members to decide how often they meet and for how long. It could be once a week or a fortnight for half an hour or so, once a month for slightly longer, or anything up to just a few times a year. This is not a commitment for life, only for as long as all the members feel the group is helpful. Reviews will therefore be needed.

How do I get started?
Either get together with two friends to form a group and then contact one of the co-ordinators who will help you get started, or put your name forward to be included in a future group.

To explain further, we are organising some taster sessions, when there will be a demonstration of a group in action:

Sunday 18th November at 10.45am in St Thomas Church Hall
Tuesday 27th November 3.00pm at The Vicarage, Grove Road
Monday 14th January 10.00am at The Vicarage, Grove Road

This initiative is supported by the PCC through the Parish Leadership Team. The co-ordinators, who would be very happy to discuss this with you, are Rina Miles on 678091 and Sarah Salisbury on 673847.
