At 8am on Sunday we gather for a traditional Holy Communion service, drawn from the Book of Common Prayer, with a brief exploration of the theme for the day. This is a quiet, contemplative service without hymns or music.
Join us for a traditional service of Holy Communion using the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), the historic prayer book of the Church of England.
This peaceful, early morning service follows a set pattern of prayers, Bible readings, a brief exploration of the theme for the day and Holy Communion. Soaked in tradition, many find the familiar rhythm and prayers in this service very comforting.
The language and style are more traditional than some of our other services, providing a quiet and reflective time.
What to expect
This is a small intimate service so you’ll be invited to sit in the wooden pews near the altar at the front of the church beneath our beautiful stained glass windows.
This is a small intimate service with a familiar pattern, with some parts led by the priest and others where everyone can join in. You are welcome simply to listen and soak it all in. Take part as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. There are no hymns or music during this short 30 minute service.
Everything you need to follow the service is provided, so you don't need to know the words beforehand.
